This is your second and final one for the second nine weeks, as grades are due soon. If you were in class this week on the days you were supposed to be there, I talked to you personally on the phone and told you what you what assignments you are still missing.
Remember: The amount of hours you receive depends on how much work you get done. If you have done every assignment given, then you will earn all of your hours. If you haven't done anything, then you will not earn any hours. As such, I cannot tell you how many hours you have at this point. I need to wait until the end of the week to see what you accomplish. As always, get in touch if you need anything.

Hello all!
For this short week (December 21 - 22), use this time to makeup any work you have not turned in for the first half of the nine weeks. Please review the syllabus to see what you still need to do. If you are unsure or need help figuring out what you still need to do, let me know. I will be glad to help you get a list together.
Secondly, after this week, Canvas will be set up a little bit differently. You will still log in the same way. However, instead of seeing your assignments right here on the Syllabus sheet, you will need to click on the Modules in blue on the left side of your screen. You will still turn stuff in the same way. The only different thing is where you will find your assignments from here on out.
Lastly, I hope you all have a fun, happy holiday and new year! Be safe and talk to you in 2021!
Mrs. Rocco
Hi everyone
For this week (December 14 - December 18), please complete the following:
First, click on this link - Barbicide Certification - to take a Barbicide certification test. Once on the website, there is a big, blue box that says, "Barbicide Covid-19 Certification." Click on that box and enter your personal information. Next, proceed through the short course. At the end of the course, there are ten questions for you to answer. After finishing all the questions, if you pass, a certificate will be made for you with your name on it. Take a picture of your certificate and send it to me.
After you do the first certification, complete the second one directly underneath. After earning your certification, send that one to me as well.
Next, complete the notes to go along with chapter fifteen. Use the following PowerPoint to do so.
Finally, watch these two YouTube videos on fingerwaves. While this is something that you probably won't do often, it is something that you need to know. It teaches you dexterity and how to manipulate the hair. If you watch some of the awards shows or read pop culture magazines, you will see some of the celebrities wearing this style. When you return, this is something we will work on.
If you need any help or have any questions, please reach out.

***** Announcement*****
Hi everyone!
I've been informed there is not chapter 17 in your theory workbook. Please complete it in the pracitcal workbook instead. You should have this at home. I told you to take it home at the beginning of the year. I realize we are not to use the practical book until next year, but we are working on styling now and need you to understand the information.
Mrs. Rocco
Hi everyone!
After roller sets, we are moving onto learning how to properly use your Marcel Curling Iron. In preparation for that, please watch the following two videos. Watch Curling Iron For Beginners first. The girl in this video does a fantastic job of showing you exactly how to use the iron and the why's behind it. After watching video number one, please split the head in two....like she did...and complete one side of the head using the croquignole wrap and the other side using barrel curls. Once you are done, send me pictures. Send me one with the curls in the hair and one with them combed out. So, one picture will be with the curls still set with pin curl clips in there to hold them and the second picture will be with the pins out and the hair hanging there. You do not have to tease. I just want to see your curl patterns.
After watching video number one, please watch video number two called Curling Iron Techniques. When you are done watching, complete a five section block on your mannequin, which is the same blocking we did for roller sets. In each of the five different sections, please complete each of the techniques the girl in the second video showed you. So for example, one section will have beach waves, one section will have the Hollywood wave, once section will have wand curls, one section will have the first crimping technique and the last one will have the spaced out crimping technique. Once you are done, please send me pictures.
Lastly for this week, please work on Chapter 17 in your workbook. You only have to do up to number fifty this week. As always, when you are done, send me pics!
Hope to see you guys soon! As usual, if you need anything, let me know!
Mrs. Rocco

Happy Monday! Short week this time....only Monday and Tuesday. Thanksgiving break is from Wednesday to Monday, with us returning to online learning Tuesday, December 1st. As always, all work for this week is due on Sunday night at midnight. More work will be posted on Tuesday, December 1st, as that is our first day back. Please don't forget to log in every school day before 1:45 for attendance.
For this short week, please complete the following:
First, finish up your roller sets from in class this week, so I can mark them off your task guide. Finish both roller sets, the one with long hair and the one with short hair and then do comb outs on both. Take pictures of your roller sets with the rollers in and then take pictures of your combouts. Please take photos from the side, the back, and the front so I can see all views and tell you if they are looking okay.
Next, please watch the following videos as a review or a first time learner. Once you watch the videos, complete a round brush style on both a mannequin and a live model. Take pictures of the mannequin and model with wet hair, of you doing the round brushing, and the final product. Someone will probably have to help you take the action shot of you working.
Following the videos, write down five things you learned from watching the videos. Tell me things you never knew before.
Have a good week and a great holiday weekend! As always, if you need anything reach out!

Hi,
Welcome back for week three of online learning. Please remember to sign in to Canvas each day within the first fifteen minutes of your session. If you do not log in each day, you will be marked absent. In addition, there may be new information for you.
Today, tomorrow, and Wednesday, we are learning/doing roller sets. Thursday, we are going to review chapter eleven for your upcoming test, which is next Wednesday. Friday, you will be shampooing/braiding/cutting/styling a level two/three students.
If you are doing Cosmetology completely online, please complete the following work by Sunday night at Midnight.
Please complete workbook chapter fifteen and the questions at the end of chapter fifteen in the book as a review for shampooing. The questions at the end of the chapter are on page 340. There are eight questions. Answer them in complete sentences.
To review braiding, please complete these three styles on your mannequin or on live model, take a picture, and send it to me. Please note, the last picture is of a rope braid.
I understand there are most likely extensions used to do this style, but do the best you can without the extra hair. This happens. People come in with pictures of styles they want done, that are completely different from what their hair actually looks like.
Have a good week! As always, if you have questions, please reach out. I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. Sometimes it may take a little longer, as I now have a class here as well.
Thanks,
Mrs. Rocco
Hi everyone! Welcome back for week two of remote learning and hopefully the last! Read below to see what needs to be completed by Sunday at midnight.
First this week, I would like you to write a cover letter. The cover letter is part of your portfolio assignment that is due in May. A cover letter is given to a potential employer to introduce yourself, to tell them a little bit about yourself, and to let that person know you are interested in working for their company. It is typically given to an employer with your resume and it should only be one page. Keep it short and simple. When a company is hiring, they may get tons of resumes and cover letters. They key is to get yours to stick out and be memorable. If you go online and look up, "Salon Cover Letters," you will be able to see many examples. You may use these for ideas, however do not simply copy one off the internet. It needs to be about you.
Before you start writing your cover letter, you also need to think of somewhere in the salon industry you would like to work. You will address your letter to that company/individual. If you need help with this, feel free to email.
To go along with your cover letter, this week I want you to fill out this pre-resume worksheet. Sometime this year, we will be going to the computer lab to complete a resume with the school counselor. This will go in your portfolio was well. In order to complete your resume in a timely fashion, we have you fill out this pre resume worksheet. That way, when we go up to the computer lab, you have all of your information at your fingertips and don't have to waste time looking things up.
Cosmetology Pre-Resume Worksheet.docx
Next, please watch this consultation video. Since the consultation is the most important part of the entire service, it is vital that you are able to do a good one. After watching this, on a piece of paper, write down three things that you learned from watching this video.
After watching the consultation video and reading through chapter eleven, complete the following Client Record Card. You many complete this on anyone you wish. You have done one of these with Mrs. Tincha already. Consultation cards are something you will fill out for every client. That way, the next time they come in, you will know what you have done the past five times.
Salon 7 Client Record Card-1.docx
Lastly, for this week, complete the questions at then end of chapter eleven in the textbook in COMPLETE SENTENCES.
As last week, all work is due by Sunday at midnight.
Mrs. Rocco
